Pigments from the Wild

Sangketan Studio, Bali, Indonesia

Sangketan Studio

I moved deep into the jungle on the Southern slopes of Gunung Batukaru (Mount Batukaru) in the center of the tropical island of Bali, Indonesia.

At this open-air wooden house, the atmosphere is cool. A light breeze comes and goes, passing through the tree-tops surrounding my second-floor studio. I hear a symphony of birds chirping, bugs buzzing and leaves rustling. The occasional farmer and villager travels by on their way to the creek flowing in the valley a little downslope…

Processing river rocks into pigment

Pigments from the Wild

Hopping off the concrete path, I am currently embarking on self-initiated solo residencies around the world, setting my nomadic studio in-touch with diverse cultures and natural environments.

On my journey, I am collecting, researching, and processing pigments from the wild to ground painting back down to Earth.
